Comfort and survivability of onboard personnel
Acoustic discretion and signature management are paramount during naval military operations.
SOCITEC offers a range of solutions that filter noise and vibrations generated by onboard equipment and propulsion systems, actively supporting maximum stealth of ships and other naval defense assets while also improving long-term crew comfort and reducing fatigue during extended missions.
Underwater noise radiated by a naval vessel is its acoustic signature, the primary means by which it is detected by adversaries and the most difficult attribute to mask.
Every rotating component on board (engines, pumps, compressors, gearboxes) contributes a discrete tone, while structural vibration radiates broadband noise into the water and increases the vessel’s underwater detectability
Reducing this signature requires isolating every machinery item from the hull through carefully tuned mounts, sometimes in cascaded (two-stage) configurations to achieve effective vibration control and acoustic stealth performance.
The same isolation also reduces internal cabin noise and structure-borne vibration, directly improving long-mission crew rest, performance and retention.
