Missile Transport and Storage and Vehicle-Mounted Armament
Shock and vibration expertise and solutions for sensitive equipment
Missiles, their guidance systems and vehicle-mounted weapon and optronic systems are highly sensitive to shock and vibration throughout their lifecycle, from transport and storage to operational use on military land platforms.
SOCITEC wire rope isolators are integrated into transport crates and storage platforms to absorb external forces, ensuring the integrity of sensitive components and preventing failure or misalignment so missiles arrive operational at the launch site. The same expertise protects onboard targeting and weapon systems from the intense shocks generated by off-road driving and by weapons fired directly from the vehicle, keeping mission-critical equipment fully operational under severe mechanical stress.
Missile guidance components (gyroscopes, inertial measurement units, seeker heads, electronic boards) are calibrated to micrometric tolerances. A single uncontrolled drop event during handling, or accumulated transit vibration over thousands of kilometers, can cause silent calibration drift that is only revealed at launch.
Vehicle-mounted armament faces a different but equally severe profile: muzzle blast and recoil generate high-G transient shocks while off-road driving overlays continuous broadband vibration.
Both contexts require isolation solutions that work across an unusually wide frequency band and across the full thermal range encountered in defense operations.
