Ground Handling and Transport of Sensitive Aircraft Components
Shock and vibration expertise and solutions for sensitive equipment
Before deployment, aircraft components and subsystems as well as mission-critical aerospace equipment are moved using trolleys and containers that expose them to shocks, vibration, drops, and mishandling.
SOCITEC’s shock and vibration isolation solutions are integrated into trolleys and containers to secure ground handling and transport of equipment throughout the logistics chain, and our chassis-mounted suspension systems shield critical components from events that could cause damage.
Most aircraft component damage actually occurs on the ground, not in flight. Each forklift transfer, tow operation or trolley movement subjects equipment to acceleration peaks an order of magnitude higher than typical flight vibration.
Modern aircraft components are also increasingly miniaturized and integrated, making them more sensitive to localized impact: a small dent on a sensor housing or a hairline crack in a circuit board can cost more than the entire handling operation.
Isolating components during every ground move is therefore as important as protecting them in flight , ensuring equipment integrity, reducing maintenance costs and preserving operational readiness.
