SYMOS is a computer program for the
analysis of mechanical systems subjected to shock and vibration.
The model is built with rigid bodies connected by elastic or dissipative elements....
SYMOS provides linear and nonlinear analyses.
A postprocessor module allows :
• 3-D animation of the model.
• graphics display of model response.
• some complementary analyses (shock spectrum, Fourier spectrum).
1. Diesel Engine
Vibration isolation of a 2 mass - system
2. Aircraft engine trolley
Handling shock response
3. Road vehicle
Ramdon vibration response
4. Drop table machine Shock
test simulation
SYMOS program applications are multiple : structural motion, flexibily mounted systems
calculation, help to shock and vibration test calibrations....
SYMOS program is also used as educational tool for schools and universities.
MODEL• bodies (1 to 6 degrees of freedom)
• joins
- linear springs
- nonlinear springs
- creation of load/deflection curves
- creation of libraries
- damping : viscous, Coulomb,
quadratic,...
- joints , contacts, gaps
LOADING• static
- externally forces applied to the bodies
- inertia loads (gravity, crash acceleration,...)
- imposed displacements
• transient (response vs. time)
- library of typical shocks (half-sine,
versed sine pulses,....)
- creation of input files
• harmonic (response vs. frequency)
- vibrations sinus, aléatoires
- forces tournantes, couples oscillatoires,...
ANALYSES• modal
• static linear and nonlinear
• transient linear and nonlinear
(large rotation of the model)
• harmonic
• shock spectrum
• Fourier spectrum
• response diagram vs. time or frequency (displacements, velocities, acceleration of the bodies ; forces in the joins).
• 3-D animation of the model
